Video: Unbelievable High School Hockey Goal

When I first read the title of this video that was sent to me, my first thought was “the term ‘sickest’ is being thrown around too much these days.”  But this absolutely blew my mind. Not the display of skill and poise by this young man to pull of a move I have never seen in my 20 some years of hockey. What was mind boggling was the guts it takes to pull this move in a high school hockey game in Minnesota.  Any hockey game is intense, nerve wracking, and competitive. And in areas like Minnesota, one bad play sticks in a coaches mind for the next three games. This is the ultimate risk vs. reward example. Alex Mason, of Detroit Lakes High School, scores this goal, and it goes viral.  But if he misses, he makes himself look like a hot dog;  a guy who is more concerned about style points than winning the game.

Though after saying all of this, it is obvious I am just jealous I did not possess the skill nor the guts to attempt this kind of move in a game. Kudos to Alex Mason – both for his goal, and his ridiculous flow.  Get after it indeed.
